Wheat...West coast wheat markets saw white wheat prices move mostly
sideways in early-week trade, with hard red winter and red spring bids
tailing lower against their respective futures markets. New crop August
bids on Tuesday showed white wheat at $6.25, hard red winter 11.5% pro
at $6.07 and dark northern spring 14% protein at $6.95.
Crop Progress...Winter wheat conditions across the Pacific Northwest
showed a modest improvement over the past week, as gains in Washington
helped offset declines in Oregon. Good to excellent ratings for Idaho
slipped a point to 68%, while Oregon saw an 11% decline to 49% due to
warmer and drier weather with heavy wind. Ratings for Washington saw a
4 point improvement to 69% good to excellent.
Shipments...Weekly export inspections showed a marked increase for
U.S. wheat shipments last week, coming in at 22 million bushels to put
year-to-date loadings at 672 million bushels and 14% ahead of a year
ago. Hard red winter was the top mover with 8.3 million bushels with
hard red spring registering 5 million and white wheat at 2.8 million.
West coast exporters shipped a total of 8.5 million bushels of wheat,
mostly to Japan, along with 23 million bushels of corn.
